That’s dedication to the hobby, Sir! Yard work has always meant cheap cigars for me. Hope you enjoyed it.
Thank you Mr. Puffington, It’s a science puffing and enjoying a pipe all the while edging, chopping and mowing. You get into a cadence together with your cob and movement of work. A sign of a codger.

Headed out with some Cowboy Coffee in the Stublin this fine Saturday morning.

Found some nice snap lid Ball jars on clearance at Walmart this week, just had to show @PrivatePiping what he created. I'm now sitting with a larger jar than anything else in my cellar apart from Plumcake and a legit fear to stock up before the blend eventually changes whenever they run out of Sutliff leaf 😅
You'll be happy you did! 👍😁

Relaxing after a plate and a half of freshly made shepard's pie with a small bowl of rocky road ice cream for dessert. I'm closing in on the half way mark of this bowl of year 2013 Capstan Gold Flake in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar post-WW2-mid 50s family era Barling’s Make Ye Olde Wood Special Made in England squat dublin with a tapered black ebonite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Ice water and bergs is my drink this evening. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Harry the Hairy is on m'lady's lap getting a brushing. Getting ready to watch a news special about the newly released JFK files. I doubt there's any chance that much, if anything new pertaining to Kennedy's murder will be very revealing.

After getting my ass handed to me by wifey during our traditional Saturday Scrabble match (@Sobrbiker you'll be miffed to know that my attempt to do "Ryback" was successfully challenged), we headed out to the workroom, her with a Capone cigarillo, me with Savinelli 140th Anniversary in a Foyard beechwood Rhodesian. I'm sure they'll release something special next year for their 150th, but IMHO, it'll be virtually impossible to top this one. 9/10

Bird report: California scrub-jay, White-crowned sparrow, Dark-eyed junco, California towhee, House finch, American crow, Red-tailed hawk, Steller's jay, Northern flicker, Hairy woodpecker, Northern flicker, Mountain chickadee, Chipping sparrow, Golden-crowned sparrow, Western bluebird, and White-breasted nuthatch.

Pizza and Star Trek TNG on the docket for tonight...does it get much better?

Earlier this week I popped open a 5 year old jar of a mixture I slapped together on a whim one day which ended up being one of my favorite things to smoke. The basic recipe is 1 Peterson Irish Flake per 2 Capstan Blue flakes, with the flakes sliced and chopped into evenly sized slivers and thoroughly mixed.

I've enjoyed this mixture many times fresh. Honestly there isn't a huge difference in the aged version, except the Capstan Virginias stand out more and the Irish Flake mellowed out a bit. The end result is fantastic, to my palate. So much so that I can't stop salivating while smoking it, which is the only drawback. If you smoke it indoors, keep a spittoon handy lol

Glad you got that pipe! I was eyeing it just in case you didn’t. I did not need to spend any money.
Thank you! And at the same time tell me about it.. I had no business buying another pipe either. I just placed a sizeable order at SmokingPipes for an estate pipe and a bunch of GH&Co tobacco yesterday 😅.

But the next time a good deal pops up it's your turn to save us from temptation 😂

For today's ZOOM meeting, I smoked some 50-year-old Wine Cured No. 11 from the long-gone English Pipe Shop in Chicago. I used my equally old Skipper pipe, a ring carved calabash, purchased at Harry Yablon's Gift and Tobacco Emporium in Skokie, Illinois (also a long-gone shop).
It was a good, mellow smoke, just a little "bitey".
A tumbler of Peach/Mango Green Tea, with plenty of bergs and a splash of Honey Jack Daniel's, was my drink.
