Good afternoon! In my search for a satisfying English blend with a pleasant room note, I came across bulk Lane HGL. I’ve become enamored with this blend and have been enjoying it regularly.

I’m curious to learn other names this blend is sold under at brick and mortar shops. I plan on ordering it in bulk to ensure my supply. I’m sure it will sound silly to some, but I find jars labeled “HGL” boring, and I’m sure the wonderful blend is known by more appealing names. Have you come across this blend sold under another name?

I did try to search for this topic, but alas “HGL” is too short of a term for the forum search tool.

The number of possible names this is rebranded as is limited only by the number of retail vendors selling it, and their imaginations - like every other Lane or Sutliff blend over the years.

So, in further research (mainly on Tobacco Reviews), I’ve found HGL also sold under the following names. I can’t speak to the accuracy of this list. As pointed out by the replies above, there are surely many more.

Sherlock’s Choice
Master’s Blend
Cricklewood
Buckingham
Downtown Blend
Roylott

If you don't like the name you can just write whatever you name you want on the jar. As long as you remember it's HGL it doesn't matter what you write on the label.

Cricklewood?? The Coren homeland and junction for Dudding Hill? Gosh.

This was purported to be the personal blend of Herman G. Lane, the man who made Lane Limited what it is today. You could call it Founders Reserve or Chairmans Reserve or someting like that. Just a thought.

I would name it as you see fit. I was actually contemplating beginning a thread for just that purpose, along the lines of, "Who Renames Thier Lane Blends?" Because yeah, when someone asks me, "what's that you're smoking? It smells wonderful!" I'm not too keen on the goofy looks they give when I answer, 1Q, or LL7, or BCA. I'd much rather say it's a blend called Purple Elephant Fluffbunny.
