How Many Of You Check Your Alerts?

Lately, there’s been a lot of activity on the forum. We went from the doldrums of Fall to the winter storms these last few weeks. I login to large numbers at the top also.

I also have an email stuck in my inbox. Someone had sent me a link that goes straight to a 404 page. So, I always have at least a 1 up there.

You can clear it using the filter and marking it as "Read".

I just tried on my phone, but it might work on my pc. Thanks, that’s a great idea. I have done that with other alerts, just not PMs.

I always check the alerts. If somebody quotes my post or replies to a thread I'm interested in I'll look at them, otherwise I ignore.

Call me incurious, I suppose. I have never checked for alerts, because I didn't know the feature was there.

I turned off alerts for likes/reactions because I was missing alerts where people would quote me because 99% of them were reactions. But otherwise, I check them if I have them because it'll be that someone quoted one of my posts somewhere.

I do hate the time lost looking for the one alert that won’t clear from the red dot when there’s pages of notifications.

When I asked Kevin about it to see if it could be fixed, it seemed to trigger him just hearing about it. Ha ha.
But, I understand that some glitches are out of his control. Or, maybe he just gets a kick out of knowing it drives me a wee bit bonkers, ha ha. JK

When I log in I usually run through the list of alerts, particularly checking quotes when they’re listed.

I practically always check Alerts. If it's just a reply to a thread that I replied in, I don't read it.

The trouble with not reading replies that you aren't quoted in is that sometimes people reply without quoting you.

The trouble with not reading replies that you aren't quoted in is that sometimes people reply without quoting you.

What I meant is that sometimes people reply to other people without quoting them, so the other people just get a reply alert, not an alert that they have been quoted.
