I visited the Tacoma Tinder Box in search of stuff on the STG chopping block. I'd wanted to visit every since I got seriously into cigars (about a year before try pipes), and I was already in the area so I finally got a chance to stop by.
All I found was some bulk Scottish Blend (I've jarred it up and it smells great, you can smell all the components), and Molto Dolce which I didn't get because I'm not a big aro smoker so I figured I'd let somebody else score it. I'd never heard of BRG mixture but I saws it was Sutliff so I went ahead and got it, Tobacco Reviews says it's discontinued and the last review was from 2014 so it looks like I just relieved them of a proverbial shelf turd. I guess it's a VA / Bur which I've been wanting to explore more so I'll be looking forward to trying it especially since the Virginias have at least ten years of age on them. The EMP and Nightcap Match jars were both empty, as were the bulk Plum Pudding and Mississippi River ones. I also got Maltese Falcon which I've long wanted to try, and Gordan Pym which I never had any particular interest in but I've wanted to try Dan so I figured why not? Glad I was able to support GLP and Dan. I intended to get a few Tinder Box house blends but decided not to since I'm short on jars and they're made by Lane so they're likely safe. I'll definitely get some Sherlock's Choice and Philosopher's Blend next time I go.
They also had a tin of CAO Eileen's Dream, two tins of Haunted Bookshop, several of Pirate Kake, and a whole shelf of Peterson Royal Yacht for some reason. I was expecting a much bigger selection, but I'd imagine they do just fine with their storied house blends. It's possible they had more a week ago and stuff was picked clean in light of last Thursday's news. Pipe selection is really good, I didn't pay too much attention because I didn't wan't PAD to kick in while indulging TAD but I did see several Savinellis and Nordings on the wall. There's also a massive selection of pipe racks and a decent sized cigar humidor.
Overall it was a satisfying trip even if it wasn't what I expected.
