I see dogs as kind of our idealized image of ourselves. Basically they're wolves we projected ourselves onto over many generations. That's my take on them.

reminds me of when visiting relatives and they get weird that your more into the cat or dog then seeing them. I am like hey if you act that excited to see me you'll get belly rubs and head scratches too.
