I remember Matches when I got into pipe in the early 2010s. I didn't watch many of his videos because I couldn't get over his intro for some reason

Loved his videos, great guy. Sadly I started watching YTPCs shortly after he passed. I enjoyed a lot of the tobaccos and bulk blends he recommended (HH old Dark Fired, Billy Budd, Big N Burley, burly blends in general, of course Haunted Bookshop and several more .he was an ex cig smoker like me and had similar taste in tobaccos and smoking style and it really helped me figure out what to look for in a blend that I will like. Rest in Peace.
Wish he was still around I always liked his stories about growing up. When my son was really little he would go around saying MATCHESSS 8 6 0 and I’d have to explain to people he was a YouTuber. He was just one of those people you felt like you knew personally.
John was a friend. He and I had many offline conversations about so many things. It was an absolute shock to all of us when he passed. Which was a result of an allergic reaction to a z pack the doctors had prescribed for a respiratory trach infection.
The drama that people are referring to is when his daughter Katie made a video asking the ytpc to donate to a gofundme. The gofundme was so a friend of hers could buy the house that John, his wife and daughter lived in as John's widow and Katie were moving closer to family. It was not a small amount, a couple hundred thousand dollars. It rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, with good reason.
I try to ignore that instance and still like to put John's videos on when I want to remember the good times with him. Friday nights were never the same after his passing, there was a devout group of us that tuned in each Friday evening for some pipe smoking and conversation.

Same hereI enjoyed John’s videos. He was always likable and unpretentious in his presentation. Matches introduced me to Haunted Bookshop…my favorite blend. And for that I’m forever grateful.️
And the Friday Savinelli project that Eddie Gray took on over at the Pipe Nook raised a considerable amount of money for John's widow. Proud to have number 22 or 860.
Has anyone noticed that in the last few days there have been new Matches 860 videos? No possibility of commenting. Anyone know who's posting them?
Buffalo, do you know if Eddie has anymore of these pipes left or did they sell out??
"New" as in never before posted or just the fact that they are now showing the videos again?
They were only ever posted on the BriarReport website to draw traffic there. A few youtubers were suppose to make videos regularly for BriarReport. It didn’t last too long. So now that Sgt. Savinelli has the channel, he posted the extra videos. I’m sure they were ‘link only’ videos and the link was on BriarReport
