Since the weather outside is frightful, I spent the afternoon in the shop cleaning up this dingy Au Caid panel…

It’s my guess this is pre-WWII. It has an orific bit.

Sorry, thats not right.
Despite the London pipe makers cessation of orific bits, as you rightly say around the 1920’s, that never stopped the French……who are still knocking them out in 2024…..& why not? Nothing wrong with an orific bit. I’ll take an uneducated guess that the pipe dates no earlier than the 1950’s.

Very good, pretty open, but not so much as to not provide a little resistance when puffing… it’s actually a very nice smoking pipe.
