Good afternoon from cold but sunny England,

Just received an estate pipe from ebay, a Savinelli Extra Lumberman (I've added some images for information). It's in excellent condition, no pungent aroma, very clean, bowl appears very well reamed & cleaned or it's just lightly used.

Assuming it smokes well (just about to try) it could be a bargain at only £40 which is about $50 U.S. or €47

The listing stated it was from the '70s. Other than that, I have absolutely no idea as to it's history, actual age, the 'Extra' line etc.

Could any of you fine gents shed any light on this pipe, or at least the history, pricing etc., of the Savinelli Extra line of pipes?

Thanks in advance 👍🏻😊

...The stem on your pipe appears oddly small in one of the pictures, is it a replacement?
It could be...but it was slightly misaligned on the pics. Here's another with it correctly placed. The pipe is just over 180mm in length so can't imagine the stem being much longer originally.

My OCD noticed the misalignment on the stem immediately, lol, but it looks original and in great condition in the later photo. Seems like a good deal to me! I’ve never encountered a bad Sav and all mine smoke great. Enjoy!

To Tyke Piper:
I have a Savinelli Lumberman.
I purchased it so long ago....perhaps in the '70s?
It is an 803KS Champagne.
It is a little different than yours shown in the photo.
I am not sure since you got it on eBay as an estate that it is really a Savinelli?

Good morning from cold & wet northern England 🌬☔️🌧

Well, thanks for the input - I can confirm it definitely was a Savinelli, however, I sold it (via ebay LOL) quite some time ago as I made the decision to utilise Savinellis balsar filters due to health issues at the time, and it was one of my unfiltered pipes. I miss it - it was an excellent smoke!

Happy news; good for you. I have 7 Savinellis & use a 6mm charcoal filter in 5 of them. The 2 that don't are the 803KS mentioned & a 1145EX, both "old-timers. I really prefer using an AC filter as the smoke is more comfortable & still enjoy the taste of a variety of blends available.
