Captain Black equivalent of RLP-6

If they have MacBaren 7 Seas Regular/White. That is also like CB White. And sometimes found in tins or bulk at B&Ms.

I've smoked RLP-6 and Captain Black Original recently and don't find them to be the same. Ratio of dark to tan tobaccos appears different as does the cut. Topping smells different to me as well.
^^^ I agree. Similar, but not the same. CB seems to have more preservatives, but I like them both on occasion.
I called Lane Ltd years ago and they verified that Capt Black White label and Lane RLP-6 are the same blend. Also:
Capt Black Royal is Lane 1-Q and
Capt Black Gold is Lane MV-1000
Capt Black Royal is Lane 1-Q and
Capt Black Gold is Lane MV-1000
They started the same thing. The difference come from the way they’re stored. A sealed pouch or a 5lb pillow stored in a B&M’s cupboard and usually served out of a jar.
No. Royal is 1QCorrect, except you got it backwards.
Royal =MV-1000
Gold =1Q

Leonard Wertzle the former head blender for Lane Limited Tucker GA will tell you they are not the same. I have POUNDS of RLP-6 and five or six tubs of CBW AND I have a few pounds of CBW bulk that used to be sold. The bulk and the tubs and pouch are the same. RLP-6 is a different cut, different casing and different topping. I still smoke all three and the RLP-6 is different. It doesn't even look the same.
I called Lane Ltd in GA about 20 years ago and they told me they were the same then. Maybe they've changed it? Could've happened after they closed the Tucker, GA plant. It's made by STG overseas now (maybe in Assens)

Hate to say this but when you call a company the question is who did you talk to. I've had companies that don't even know the range of products sold or any accurate info about them.
The $10 an hour customer service reps don't know what the recipe is. You can put the two together and clearly see its different. Who ever told you that most likely never even walked in the warehouse where they processed it.
