What's a "Man's Drink"?

Some hackles have been raised at the suggestion that a few alcoholic drinks were thought of as "Lady's Drinks" by some. If 8 out of 10 orders for, say White Russians are made by women.....

Then those who are really concerned they might be drinking a "Lady's Drink" might have some issue about being a real man, whatever that is.

Drink what you like, and like what you drink!

A person should be confident enough to be comfortable in his own choices. So to me a man’s drink is now

1. Water (Mostly still occasionally sparking)
2. Coffee
3. Tea

Overall I agree. But, imo, a man's drink is liquor of choice, neat. No ice a few drops of water.

Could be environmental as well. Locally, the guys and girls are fairly equal on beer and straight liquor consumption, I rarely see cocktails served in the bars with the exception of 21st birthday celebrations. Then you see the entirety of a mixologist's knowledge put to the test.

Being a former bartender, drink orders were done by table or name, not by man or woman.

As a child, I thought coffee was an adult drink. As I got older, I thought alcohol was an adult drink.

Now as an adult, I realize water is the true adult drink.

anything where there are two factors makes for a girls drink (not ladies, girls) overly sweet and a distinct inability to actually confirm the presence of alcohol through taste. A white russian might be sweet but you can taste the alcohol. I prefer to call them novice drinks.
Though I really hate the trend to call anything in a Martini glass a Martini.

These days? All definitions are flexible. So, I read. Are you sure that woman at the next table is, in fact, what she purports to be? Or her "date"? A "man's drink" is apparently a term from an earlier, simpler time. Hell, Martha Jane Canary drank her whisky straight back in the day.
