Given my preference for acrylic and AB stems and Peterson’s lack of Acrylic or AB stemmed system pipes I did what any self respecting pipe repairman would do, I made one. I also reamed out the sump to be a proper well.

It did not and I did not. It would have next to impossible without cutting a new stem.

Is it because it’s stepped (not sure if this is the right term) from the filter slot the the draft hole?

No, it’s because to draft starts nearly all the way up to the bend so there’s no way to gat a reamer in it.

Anything is possible with enough time, talent, and money. But it would be more trouble than it’s worth. The ends would not justify the means.

I have a 9mm filtered 303 and unfiltered 313 and XL315 Peterson System pipes. One thing I love is that the stems are all interchangeable, so I can compare filter and non-filtered midway through a bowl. A filter really gives you that last 10% of smoothness that puts a smoke over the top. Last night had some Habana Daydream that had some sharp edges to it. Popped in the filtered stem and it was like magic, that last bit of hotness disappears.
