Which Pipe Brands to Avoid?

I guessing this will be q controversial topic. But what brands of pipe manufacturers do you stay away from.
Which estate pipe is just not worth the time to refurbish?

What are your favorite brands and which estate pipes brands are a must . (I guess for example dunhill)

I like all pipes but Petersons are the ones to save, any Freehand is worth saving, but give them to me to save, pleas.

I base them on condition of the pipe.

Only if you're wanting a Dunhill. They're no better or worse than any other brand out there.

what are your intentions? Collecting, paying for a refurbishment/refinish, the satisfaction of restoring one yourself to good smoking condition??

none. I mean there are ones I don't tend to like but if I saw one I liked I'd certainly wouldn't let the brand dissuade me.

I focus on what I like, Italian mainstream houses. I can’t say I dislike any others because I haven’t tried them. Except a couple Dunhills which smoked great, but I can’t take vulcanite stems.

I just bought 4 pipes, two Comoys, a Peterson and a GBD from a Texan that shall remain nameless. I paid $100 for all. I didn’t expect much. Thought I would use them for work/fishing pipes. Much to my surprise, they all smoke like a champ. I would say two of them smoke as good as my “good” pipes and the other two are not far behind. This just goes to show, you can’t rule any brand out and you can never tell about a pipe until you smoke it. It’s not about the cost, it’s about the engineering.
