As I sit here smoking bowl after bowl, I was wondering ... is there such a thing as a pipe chain-smoker? Are you one? We obviously can't light a new bowl off the lit bowl but still... I was just wondering.

When I have time, absolutely. I take as much as I can get! If I could smoke inside my house, I'd never put my pipe down.
When I'm at the computer I have a pipe in my mouth... one after another. 
I would be if i wasn’t chain smoking cigars between bowls.
I generally only smoke weekends due to time constraints. But when time allows, I enjoy multiple blends in different pipes.
Usually a vanilla blend first, like Vanilla Roll Cake, then maybe a codger burley, like Half and Half, then a Virginia flake. Of course, my plans usually get thwarted once the household awakes.

I do, along with the rest of the nicotine addicted. Well, I do cigarettes and cigars when appropriate or the pipe is unreasonable.
Perhaps a bit of a rhetorical question…. when is a pipe unreasonable? I guess I mean…. for when a cigar or cigarette substitutes.
When a fine cigar is called for. Between the car and the store. (I find a lit pipe in the shirt pocket to be distracting as I push the shopping cart.) A cigar tasting at your friendly tobacconist. Between the car and the terminal. Between the taxi and the theater, closing in on opening time. From the grocery store to the car. Anytime a cigarette is preferred over a pipe or cigar. Behind the chutes where smoking is prohibited so a chaw is required. On the flight line where smoking is prohibited so a chaw or snuss is substituted. Ad infinitum.

Pardon the interruption (I typically only smoke 3 bowls per day) but I was just wondering why all the rest of you guys in this thread are so much uglier than @Ahi Ka and @Chasing Embers ?
Not to ruin the fun but no, not for me. I get more enjoyment from the "everything in moderation" lane. Don't get me wrong, tobacco is all sorts of fun. Could do it all day long. But, I dislike the downside so I make the pipe a periodic rather than regular thing.
I may not always be smoking a bowl but more often than not I have a pipe in my mouth.
I actually admire your restraint.
I've been known to do that from time to time.
I know of no "downside" for me but, I also admire your restraint.
