I launched a survey: what do you think will be the Balkan Sobranie of the future?
That is, among today's mixtures, what could be the one that today is the holy grail of every EM or Balkan smoker since the difference can be interpreted by the greater presence of one of the three tobaccos ...

Ain't no such thing. We don't all have the same tastes.
As someone who smoked BSOSM in the early 1970s, I find the current version unsmokeable.

I don't view Balkan Sobranie as a grail tobacco, there are several fine blends in that genre. A matter of individual taste I guess. The cynic in me suggests that the next pretender to the throne will be the blend whose recipe undergoes some significant change or goes extinct.

The next company to close its doors. A running theme is no one really cares until something is unavailable. Then it's the greatest travesty in the tobacco industry to lose such a coveted blend(s).

I’m pretty sure the distribution and sale of Holly’s Non Plus Ultra was barred after being deemed as subject to the United Nations Chemical Weapons Convention.

For me, when I have to get on an alert list to buy tobacco, it immediately drops to my don’t buy list. No tobacco is that good.

I have 1 or 2 tins left of this and after having smoked it, I honestly prefer GLP Westminster or Meridian over Sobranie

One of the things that makes a blends become most sought after is when it becomes hard to find, and it is hard to predict which blend will change recipes (Like Balkan Sobranie) or gets yanked off the market.
Best bet is to just stock up heavily on the blends that you like a lot, and that will offset anything happening to it in the future.
