Just want to say, that reading a bunch of pipe smokin dudes unexpectedly weigh in on this was one of the expectedly funny things I’ve read in a long while. Clearly @telescopes had the most balanced correct analysis, but damn, @Servant King hit a full 4 stars with his Penzance tobacco geek reference! What a great group!

Hi Mike. I know, yours is the one I’m referencing. I don’t think it got shut down because no one cared about it, it got shut down because discussing Hollywood nonsense was degrading the level of gentlemanly discourse that is expected from gentlemanly pipe smokers. I agreed with it getting shut down, just wanted to make my comment because it was damn funny.

I'm assuming this wasn't a pre-arranged routine, which many suspected at first. Jokes about peoples' traumatic health problems are pretty reprehensible. I place a lot of the blame on Chris Rock. And he didn't suffer a broken nose or jaw from a slap. If Smith knew he would get to speak, he could have done a lot worse just by expressing what a low and cruel joke that was, which it absolutely was. Other peoples' health problems aren't comedy material, period.
