I've noticed recently when I catch myself smoking too quickly with specific blends that the tobacco begins to taste almost minty/ashy, with a strong minty mouth feel. The mouth feel doesn't burn, but it is also not very pleasant. Obviously when it happens, I know I need to slow down, but what is happening?

I’ve had some Balkan blends that have almost a menthol type of “cooling” effect if I push it too hard. Could be the Orientals. Not exactly “ashy” or unpleasant, just noticeable.

I've experienced this same thing at times, especially in the past when my cadence was too fast, and yes it gave an almost "minty" sensation. At first I thought it was just that specific blend that contributed to that specific "flavor" but it happens with other blends as well. I guess unless it's a minty blend it's just the body telling us "you're going to fast"
