EMP, to me, is better than Nightcap. Just have to give each blend its own chance. Mainly Nightcap was overblown Lat blend. EMP has more to it if you just let it do its thing. Try Peterson Old Dublin if you like Nightcap.

I smoke EMP regularly. Sometimes, due to it's nature, I smoke it all day long. Other days, the taste is not what I want.
I'd suggest giving it a few more tries before passing judgment. It's a good, tobacco. Not great, but good, and has been for decades.

EMP is considered a marvelous morning smoke by most people in the know. This is not the sort of tobacco that you need to fold and stuff.
Up until Murray's quit producing it I would agree but the STG rendition is a bit lacking. Even Jim only gave it a two star review.
The Frank method was a bust, so I settled on the Fold and Stuff (just without the Fold part). As always, safety first! ?
I like this blend but I've not bought a second tin of it. It's kind of blandish. Even when you pick up on the nuance it's mellow. Taste isn't universal thankfully.

I enjoy EMP but my stash is 10+ years old so I can’t comment on the latest version. Still, it is all a matter of personal taste.
I can believe that. Kind of like certain bands. When you dig into the back catalog you stop listening to the new stuff. But I don't know if I should be happy to have nothing to compare it too or if it's really sad that I never got to try it. Because I find the current iteration to be quite good and one of those blends that I am always in the mood for. Like there are a lot of great blends that on occasion as I am smoking them I think I should have picked something else, not Escudo, Edward G, Yorktown, or Cary Grant. There are definitely better things, but it really hits a point of being interest and quite agreeable consistently. Like it's a blend that a tin last less then a week.
Personally, I prefer a VA of sorts with my first cup of coffee. For some reason I prefer a heavy English to finish off my night.
Once the cold snap here clears in a day or two, I will give one of my fav Virginias from JL Peretti a try with a clean mouth and coffee.
