My friends here I am once again with a question of what to buy and try out. I bought a tin if early morning pipe and I'm planning to add three more tobacco. From what I've smoked I liked mac baren Scottish mixture and macbaren classic. I'm thinking of Sherlock Holmes, nightcap, my mixture. Should I go for it? Is there anything else to be preferred to these? Samuel Gawith, Vauen etc? Give me please some options

I think you'll enjoy the blends you have listed above, based on what you have tried already.
Go for it.

Although it depends on what you can access in your part of the world, as to what we can recommend.

There may be some great blends to recommend but if you can't buy them then it is just a tease.

I have tried the Peterson blends you mentioned and I find them to be ...ok. The only Peterson blend I have stocked up on is 3P'S. I will echo @Grangerous to try out the old codger blends. SWR, SWRA, EGR, LLRR and of course Granger, all of which I found to my liking. There are others that may be more to your taste like Carter Hall, Half and Half, and Prince Albert. I would also recommend Gawith & Hoggarth over Samuel Gawith, but that is me personally. SG is great in the off chance you get get it to burn...lol.

Just an FYI… the Peterson Sherlock Holmes is a straight Virginia blend, & while it’s ok, my personal opinion is that it lacks flavor. It’s a fine blend. It’s just not great. I have some. I only smoke it when I’m definitely in the mood for it. I probably will not buy it again.

I'm currently in Germany so for the next 6 days I could go on a tobacconist scavenger hunt.

For GH, Ennerdale and Bob's Chocolate Flake. For SG, 1792 and Squadron Leader.

But since you're in Germany, try HU Tobacco. They have blends in every genre you can think of and have a stellar reputation. Fayyum for latakia, Director's Cut for Virginia, Dark Fired Kentucky and Perique, Sissinghurst for English style floral, etc.

Those are certainly classics. I'm fond of Sherlock Holmes, a good solid if not fancy Virginia. I prefer Old Dublin and Standard to 965 and Nightcap.
There are so many blends available. Enjoy the searcj.
