ashdigger, since there were so many, I supposed this might not be all of them. I was pleased to see Britannia on the list, since that is the stamp on one of my old favorites, about twenty years old, that I enjoy. But I have never seen a list even this long before, and since people are always showing up with questions about less recognizable brands, I thought I'd post what this offers, courtesy of pipedia. Retailers like to do a sort of fan dance around these brands, saying they are made by the largest pipe maker in England, so folks will think Dunhill/White Spot, or that's my cynical take on it. Why else would they say that? Why not just say Comoy, which is a good brand in its own right. The Tinder Box guy gave me this same yarn, but didn't say it was a Dunhill line, but slanted it that way. It irked me because I knew better, even though I couldn't name the manufacturer.

On reflection, I wonder if my Tinder Box St. Ives is a Comoy. I thought it might be a Chacom, but the more Comoys I see, the more it resembles them more than Chacom, of which I own two or three. My Tinder Box St. Ives is the first pipe I ever bought or owned, a smooth bent pot with an unusual vertical saddle stem that still looks fine and smokes well. It just has that Comoy look, and I see Comoy did house pipes for Tinder Box, though they don't list the St. Ives.
