First Dunhill - Found in Some Random Pipes that Came with a Display My Wife Bought on Facebook

I've been smoking a pipe for about 1.5 years. I have about 10 pipes but not one of them was purchased for more than $60. I've been keeping it as cheap as possible. Anyway, my wife surprised me with a display that she bought on Facebook Marketplace. There are 14 pipes that were included with the display. I don't know a whole lot about nice pipes so I'm not sure if I scored on any in this bunch. I do however know that I've heard of Dunhills and their white dots. Could anyone fill me in on what I have here? I've done some Googling, but haven't found this exact pipe anywhere.

Nice snag. The pipe should clean up nicely. You may want to remove the oxidation on the stem so it doesn't continue to get worse.

Looks like a smaller pipe, group 2 with a fantail stem, possibly 1969. Hard to be sure without a closer photo of the "made in England" with the year date following.

I guess I don't even know enough to know that the stems were oxidized. I thought they were brown stems. Sorry, noobie compared to most pipe smokers.

Do not sell any of those pipes until you have thoroughly researched them. Tell your wife she is awesome.

I'll let her know. She's never bought me anything related to pipes in the past. I was surprised when this showed up. I'll have to research how to clean them up. Hope it's able to be done by someone who has no clue. I am decent at googling and watching YouTube how-tos.

Wow! What an impressive score. There are some great names in that bunch. My advice to you concerning the refurbishing of these pipes is; have a professional do it unless you are very handy and have a lot of practice.

That’s a great haul! There are some beaters but among other things: 2 Dunhills, a Comoy Grandslam, GBD Vergin, BBB!

This is getting more exciting. I was happy just to get the display case. I wasn't expecting much out of the pipes themselves. And, obviously, y'all know a lot more than me. I only recognized the Dunhill name.

I don't see any markings. It's fairly cheaply made of pine and a thin particleboard back.

Cases that let in light are unfortunately the reason why the stems are green and oxidised. Vulcanites should ideally be stored away from light, in drawers etc.

Oh, dang, that's good to know. Maybe I could put some sort of black backing on the glass.
