What Defines a "Beautiful" Pipe To You?

3. How it clenches if needed.
4. No big deal if lost or broken.
5. Rhymes with Bob.

personally I was more into both of them.

It has to be Peterson. Bulldogs or Rhodesians. Good grain, gentle flow of line. Doesn't have to enhanced my face while clenching, but that gets extra point.

Aesthetically, I like nice grain as much as anyone else. However, I do like a pipe that has a nicely contrasted stem. For me, it's like getting dressed in different colors that "just work" together.

Outside of that, I do like pipes with rustication as well, partial or full.

Still, beauty is quite subjective and the aforementioned is a small excerpt of a larger set of preferences that are narrowed by the individual piece I am looking at.

I purchased it that way, but based on how it colored some of it came with the pipe. Pre-coloring pipes was big at the turn of the century (1900’s). Here’s an example of an Orlik Goudron
