Butter Thread

Due to the recent crap, I had to buy a different brand of butter. Challenge is the brand I chose, because they were out of my usual Great Value butter. Tonight at dinner I could almost swear I tasted a difference, to the better. Of course we all know butter is better than margarine, but..

In your opinion.. Does all butter taste the same? or is there a difference between brands?

When I was growing up, that's all my dad would buy. They sold that stuff pretty hard for a period of time.

But the real question at hand is Chunky v Smooth Peanut Butter?

There's definite difference between different brand of butter. For most part, as in cooking, any good quality butter will do. But to spread on a good chunk of bread, I like Irish butter or French.

All butters do not taste the same, but you're going to pay a premium for that better flavor. My favorites are Presidente (France), Finlandia (Finland, duh), and Kerrygold (Ireland). Always looking to try new ones.

HUGE differences in butter for sure. We typically do the Sam's Club one as a staple, but really like Kerrrygold or the Trader Joe's French Village cultured butter for a treat when having good bread. The difference between a standard supermarket butter like Land-O-Lakes and Kerrygold is night and day, IMO.

To be fair, you also prefer Carter Hall over a tasty, well aged VA, so there is that...

That one's easy.. unsalted is for baking.

Prefer ghee. Don't use butter much but if I buy any it's Kerrygold. Crunchy peanut butter is wrong.

For sure. They are grassy and rich and just more "buttery" in a way that supermarket butters just can't approach.
