The Pipes Magazine Radio Show – Episode 255

Kevin Godbee
Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We broadcast weekly, every Tuesday at 8 pm eastern USA time and are available on nearly all podcast sites and apps. Listen on your computer, tablet, phone and even in the car! Our Featured Interview tonight is with Mike Zicha. We are continuing our summer series where we have radio show listeners as the guest, and co-host. Mike has some of the stereotypical pipe smoker attributes. He is contemplative, analytical, and smart. He has an MBA in statistics, and owns and leads his own market research firm. Mike will also take over the Pipe Parts segment and talk about his method for breaking in a new pipe. In the mailbag we will have an update on some changes with the FDA regarding new tobacco legislation. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!

Tonight’s show is sponsored by SmokingPipes.com, Cornell & Diehl, and Savinelli Pipes and Tobaccos. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.

We hope you enjoy our 1-hour show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes and other podcast sites and apps after the initial broadcast is complete here.

  • No way would I last trying out Mike’s method of breaking in a pipe. It takes way too long for someone like me. First bowl or the hundredth just load it and go. No doubt I am missing something but that’s how it goes.
Very good interview. I had to be for you as Mike is a staunch supporter of VaPers. I do like VaPers (Escudo just about the best thing ever) but Latakia is just the best thing there is.
The music was quite good. I really enjoyed it.

  • Great to hear fellow CPCC member and friend Mike Sicha on the show. The conversation was very interesting and entertaining. I kinda agree with Dan, I just load ‘em up and smoke. Years ago, I did the water/honey smear in an unfinished chamber, but recently, the pipes I’ve bought new (almost all Peterson’s) already have a coating.
I’m a big fan of OCMS, and really liked the song.
As I’m never gonna move, the collections and “stuff” just keep piling up.
    Thanks for a fun show,
    Dino

  • Great idea mixing things up with the “user” end of the hobby. Admittedly, I no longer have the patience to break in a pipe the way Mike described. Though a bit severe, your way is closer to the way I break my pipes in. Nice job as usual Brian,
    Cheers,
    Jorge
