Pipes Magazine Radio Show Episode 75 with Rick & Sykes Wilford
As you know the KC pipe newsletter contains an article by Joseph Johnson on a famous pipe smoker. The articles are usually well received even though the pipe smoker in question is not known to the general American audience.
The interview with Rick Newcombe was really exceptional. His article on Reason.com was very good an I included it in January’s newsletter. Rick took the time to write the article when he doesn’t have a dog in the fight while people who are going to be directly effected just sit around and do nothing.
Fabulous guest this week…nice to hear people on the show other than pipe makes. I vote to change the song opening…frank Sinatra ??
I think the opening is exactly right. One guy gets to ask for a vote?
Brother Ray had some chops on the 88, didn’t he? His music will always have a place in my rotation.
Wonderful interview.
Amen to what newbroom said.

Great episode, I enjoyed Rick’s interview. I shared his article that you tagged on my FB page.
I’m really into weight training, I wish you would have had time to talk to him a little about his training.
I vote for keep the song, not all pipe smokers are fuddy duddy’s. I always fast forward through your music selections towards the end. I wouldn’t ask you to play anything different, it’s just not the genre I’m into.
Listening to Rick is always a treat, like it or not, he is a spokesman for the hobby.
I personally like the opening (and closing) tracks.
Here’s another take on “Black Coffee”. (this one written by Ike & Tina Turner).
