Thank you for joining us for The Pipes Magazine Radio Show—the only radio talk show for pipe smokers and collectors. We broadcast weekly, every Tuesday at 8 pm eastern USA time and are available on nearly all podcast sites and apps. Listen on your computer, tablet, phone and even in the car! Our Featured Interview tonight is with retail tobacconist and pipe maker Skip Elliott. Skip owns one of the coolest specialty retail tobacco shops in the country. Located in Homewood, Alabama since 1974, The Briary is an old restored country farmhouse with tons of pipes and tobaccos and smoking rooms to hang out in. Skip has also been making his own brand of pipes since 1989. In "Pipe Parts" we will wrap up our holiday gift series with some more gift ideas for the pipe and tobacco collectors and smokers. Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!
Tonight’s show is sponsored by Sutliff-Tobacco.com, SmokingPipes.com, Missouri Meerschaum, Cornell & Diehl, and Savinelli Pipes and Tobaccos. Please give them some consideration when making your next pipe or tobacco purchase.
We hope you enjoy our 1-hour show produced just for you—the pipe smoker and collector. The following link will launch a pop-up player. Alternatively, you can download the show in iTunes and other podcast sites and apps after the initial broadcast is complete here.
Skip Elliott – Pipe Maker & Owner of The Briary
Brian’s Pooping Cow
Great show. Skip is a wonderful pipeman and shop owner. I have been to The Briary and even after buying a pipe, he almost sold me another. I suddenly realized I spent all the money I had. He is that good.
Music choice was very good and seasonal.
Love the cow! A really fun conversation with Skip. Nice tune.
And, I second your “rave” comments. Good show, Thanks.

Skip! Great show.
I can’t believe you got Skip to use technology enough to record his voice. He is so old fashioned he still uses wax tubes to listen to music, oil lamps to read by at night, and when he cranks his car, he literally gets out and cranks it, ha ha. It was great to hear his story. He is a great friend and a great businessman. If you’ve never been to The Briary, you should, in all my travels I’ve never seen another pipe shop like it. Skip is very friendly, personable guy. It’s one of those places where everyone knows your name… and, they’re always glad you came.
The cow was killer! What a great doodad.
Of course, I am thinking who the hell is Skip Elliott. I had heard of the Briary just never put his name to it. Immensely jealous of his head of hair.
Good of you to mention all the people who do volunteer work in your rave.
Another great show Brian. Pooping Christmas cow, stock car racing, guns, and smoking. For a Californian, you are developing into a class A southern redneck ! Enjoyed the interview with my friend Skip. He,his wife, Joe and Aubry all always helpful. The Briary is a class A pipe and tobacco shop everyone should visit if in the area.Have a Merry Christmas. Jeb. 😉
