Welcome to The Pipes Magazine Radio Show Episode 622. Our featured interview tonight is with Noah Slasinski. Noah is a 28-year old pipe smoker from Michigan. His interview is part of our ongoing series of pipe smokers that are under the age of 30. He started with a Missouri Meerschaum hard wood pipe in his late teens and then tried just about every type of tobacco smoking and vaping, but eventually came back exclusively to pipe smoking about a year and a half ago. YouTube videos and Paul’s Pipe Shop in Flint MI helped him along the way. Similar to some of our other younger pipe enthusiasts, Noah was influenced by writers and intellectuals that he appreciates, such as Carl Jung, C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Mark Twain and more, as they were all pipe smokers. At the top of the show we will have a trip report on the NASPC show from this past weekend in Colombus from Dave Peterson.

David gave a nice recap of the Ohio show.
Noah seems well along in his pipe adventure. He was an interesting guest, with a fascinating back story and some veteran-like insights. I enjoyed the Q and A.
Noah’s choice of Billy Strings’ “Highway Hypnosis” was a good pick. I’m a Billy Strings fan. He is a terrific guitarist. (And, his great-grandfather was named George Apostolopoulos.)
I agree with your dismay at some of the Olympic sportswear. This ain’t ancient Greece.
Thanks for a fun show.
Dino
The choice of Dave Peterson to do the Ohio trip report couldn’t have been better. Seems like when I was going to shows about 10 years ago there has been considerable turn over in the attendees. I wish Dave had said more about who attended the show.
Same thing on the lovely set of pictures that were posted. If you don’t us tell who they are we’ll never know.
Noah was a decent guest but he’s so green it was tough to relate.
Noah made as inspired choice in selecting Billy Strings for the music guest, but he must have gone out of his way to pick the worst song I’ve heard that guy do. The first part of the song was fine then he stupidly went off playing who knows what. If you are going to do bluegrass, standard or progressive. you don’t wander off to do an instrumental that has no connection to the song. That is major failing of rockers when on tour.
Last thing on the Olympics, why aren’t our athletes wearing appropriate clothing?? Some of the events should have just been called “Girls, Girls, Girls”. The U.S. Olympic ought to be ashamed of itself.
