Pipes Magazine Radio Show Episode 588

Welcome to The Pipes Magazine Radio Show Episode 588. Our featured interview tonight is with Chuck Stanion. Chuck is quite well-known in the hobby as the Editor of Pipes and tobaccos Magazine for 21 years. They ceased publishing in 2019. Since then, he has been responsible for most of the writing about pipes, tobaccos, pipe makers, pipe culture and other areas related to the hobby in his Pipe Line column at SmokingPipes.com. Chuck was awarded Dr. of Pipes at the 2016 Chicago pipe show. Brian and Chuck will be talking about pipe smoking at Christmastime, amongst other things. At the top of the show we will have an Ask the Tobacco Blender segment with Jeremy Reeves. Jeremy is the Head Blender at Cornell & Diehl, which is one of the most popular boutique pipe tobacco companies in the USA.

  • Thank you, Jeremy, for helping to clear up some of the many Perique myths that have been floating around recently.
That was a nice discussion of Chuck’s and your Christmas traditions and memories. I also greatly enjoyed the conversation about Chuck’s writing for his various publications.
The Newsboy’s “Jingle Bell Rock” was not as annoying as most versions of this song; it was actually quite good. Ella singing “Frosty” with Frank DeVol’s orchestra was delightful.
I second Chris’ sentiments in his note to you.
Thanks for a truly entertaining show.
May we all have a Happy and Healthy New Year!
