Pipes Magazine Radio Show Episode 409

Welcome to The Pipes Magazine Radio Show Episode 409! Our featured interview tonight is with Ken Johnson. Ken worked in the tobacco industry in the late 70s in England at Rothmans’s Carreras, and knows tons of history on the British tobacco industry. At the top of the show, for our pipe parts segment, Brian will refer back to the Seven Questions for Seven Experts, and give you what his answers are to one question a week. Week 2: “What makes a pipe more of a flake tobacco pipe?” Sit back, relax with your pipe, and enjoy The Pipes Magazine Radio Show!

  • Great episode, Brian.
Ken is a great storyteller, with a very engaging personality! Hopefully you can spend some time with him again one day.

  • Ken’s “behind the curtain” look at tobacco production and marketing, from an English point of view, was both fascinating and very informative.
I really liked Tom Waits’ attempt at “Hi Ho.”
That was a sweet and touching anniversary shout out to your wife, and Stryper’s “Honestly” was the perfect coda. Happy Anniversary and Mazel tov!

  • Refreshing and fun interview. Thanks for leaving more flake tobacco to me. I like having the IKEA tobacco. Ha. Awesome Tom Waits selection, and very sweet Stryper lead out. Happy Anniversary to both of you.

  • Thank you for your kind comments, I’m glad you all liked the interview. I certainly enjoyed my part in it, helped immensely by Brian.
