Welcome to The Pipes Magazine Radio Show Episode 595. Our interview on tonight’s show will be with Jon David Cole. JD is the Owner/Tobacconist at The Country Squire in Jackson, MS, and he is the former co-host of the now discontinued podcast, Country Squire Radio. Country Squire Radio ran for 10-years and is still one of the most popular pipe-niche podcasts. Brian and Jon David will be talking all things pipes and tobacco, and we will get an update on what’s new at The Country Squire. At the top of the show, Brian will continue the tour of his pipe collection with seven Jodi Davis saddle bit pipes.

  • The display, description and backstory of your Jodi Davis pipes was a very enjoyable segment.
It was nice to catch up with J.D. and was, as always, fun. The conversation about dealing with newbie and codger customers at his shop was both interesting and amusing.
“As Good As I Once Was” by Toby Keith was bittersweet. May his memory be eternal.
Yes, moving sucks. That’s why we’ve lived in the same house for 47 years. Can you imagine the crap I’ve collected in those years? That’s also why the only move I foresee is when I “move on” (hopefully, up).
Thanks for another always entertaining show.

  • As much as I dislike Jodi Davis’s music, I really like his pipe work. His style is just so easy to identify. I wish I could have afforded one of his pipes, but alas, I couldn’t. It is a wonderful collection of his pipes you have there.
It was wonderful hearing from the Hobbit of Jackson, MS. He is a joy to listen to. I thought for a second or two there he was going to tell some real dirt on a few of his customers. But he didn’t. He’s going to be in business a long time on account of it. Good to listen to him to talk to you. With the empty suit he rarely got a chance to get a word in edgewise.
It is tough when someone dies at a fairly young age. The only thing wrong with Toby Keith as a performer was, he just didn’t have a real country voice. He could write songs, though.
Moving really sucks, I mean really sucks. I lived in 19 different places going through 12 years of school and the same number of schools. Moving really sucks.
