  • A really spectacular show. You description of the KC Show was right on target. Three last minute cancellations didn’t help us much. The Thursday meeting attendance was spectacular. I figured we had 16 celebrities from the pipe world come in and share the BBQ with us. That’s a really good thing.
Can you have a better guest than Ryan Alden? He is so unassuming to say the least. No braggadocio, no airs, just all Ryan. You gotta love him. I could have listened to you guys for another hour.

  • As a new listener, I’ve been working my way through the back-episodes.
You’ve asked about recommendations of fiction with pipe-smoking characters in them.
You can find this in many of E. E. “Doc” Smith’s science fiction novels of the early-to-mid 20th century (i.e., the “Golden Age” of sci-fi!) The science in them reflects a lack of knowledge about the many things we’ve since learned, and when almost anything a writer made up would be acceptable to the readers. BUT . . . the stories can still be quite enjoyable as long as the reader keeps this in mind.
