Auction ended today and I was outbid.
The pictures were crap and I was hoping that would deter any bidders.

Don't have any auction remorse azpipe! I always bid the most my wallet can afford and how much I can reasonably explain to my wife / extra money / myself. Then I leave it in God's hands.
That said, did you lose by much?

With an auction, you can't bid on anything you can't lose. Otherwise, buy direct for stated price. I know ... easy to say.
