Inspired by my time on these forums, last night I decided to see what netflix had in the way of Sherlock Holmes. I came across a recent BBC iteration that takes place in a more modern England (called simply "Sherlock"). To my great disappointment the title character does not smoke a pipe.

He uses nicotine patches.
Which I think is totally badass.
It's a new-age adaptation. And in this new age tobacco doesn't look as good on the tele as it once did.
It's the producer/director's fault, not the Holmes.

Still a brilliant show. I guess I'll have to get my tv pipe's from Lord of the Rings (as though I needed an excuse for another marathon).

I just started watching this on Netflix as well. Great show, but the pipe is missed for sure...

Finished the first season last night. I was honestly surprised with how impressed I was with it. I typically have trouble getting into british tv.

We will just have to rely on images like this for Holmes-pipedom:

I think in that photo it is a Dunhill of some kind. The second film had a number of pipes - but I think one was a Savinelli King's Cross Featherweight. This is just speculation/what I have read, so I can't say for certain.

That would be cool if it really is true!
Does that make me a badass for using nicotine patches? :D
