What's the best Virginia leaf in bagged tobacco, for pipe smoking purposes? This is tricky because not all bagged tobacco is identified precisely as to what leaf it is, but I know there are some pretty good quality Virginia tobaccos that end up at bargain prices sold in bags. Anyone able to recommend?

Something D&R, maybe. Not really sure. Sounds like you are looking for a bulk "dual-purpose" tobacco which might be marketed less towards the pipe-smokers. :puffpipe:

Yep. I'd recommend Daughter & Ryan, either Three Sails or Windsail as top notch bagged virginias. I also like the Windsail Platinum. It is a bit lighter of choice top leaf.

Also, I kind of like Low Country's Natural Virginia and Oriental. It's cheaper than D&R too. Available from SPC. I would not, however, recommend the Natural Virginia and Burley. It tastes extremely harsh to me.

I've not tried the Three Sails but I've had good luck with three other D&R blends.
Expect dry, seemingly uncased tobacco that will slow your cadence to enjoy it.
