Hello forum members,
May some of the forum members know what this Dunhill tool is designed for?

One end of it is flat and a bit bent, and the other end is pointed and quite sharp but indented near the tip so there is a hook.
I hope this is not for knitting! :worship:
A early happy new year to all of you! :puffpipe:

Believe it or not, menuhin, that is a snuff spoon. One would fill up the spoon end with a favorite snuff, stick it up to a nostril, pinch the other nostril shut and take a good hard whiff. The other end was to stir the snuff up a bit to loosen it before diving in for a little spoonful.

I was curious about trying snuff after reading about others opinions who use it, and decided pipes were enough expense for me. 8)

Thanks Pipestud.

That explain the flat end, and which I try to find snuff spoon, I come up with some similar looking items:

But I'm still perplexed by the pointed hooked end which actually looks like this:

Because if it is only for stirring, a hook is not a required function.

It looks exactly like the small crochet needles my wife used.

That's an easy one to answer. It simply is a standard opener for the top of the snuff can. You just hook it to the side of the lid and pull it up.

Thanks again Pipestud, now I have to look up the Dunhill snuff tobacco history.

It does look like an ear scratcher dochudson! Perhaps all ear scratchers can have doubled function as a snuff spoon then.
