Found this Peterson and trying to find some info. The pipe has "Peterson Dublin" over "K". Close to the stem it has "Irish" over "Freestate". Finally it has the number "969". Looking to find out age and the meaning of the "K". Came out real nice after a good clean and wax.

The time line on Pipephil puts your pipe in the 1922/23-1938 time frame. www.pipephil.eu/logos/en/infos/peterson-timechart.html

"Irish Freestate," man, that's a piece of history. I've been to Ireland twice, once to tour the country and Dublin,

and a second time to just revisit Dublin. There are still bullet holes in the stone facade of the main post office

building from the 1921, I think it was, uprising. There was some long harsh history. But they knew their pipes.

My Petersons are some of my favorites.

Foothills of the Chugach Range, AK
MSO: The rising of 1916 for the damage you referenced to the GPO.
Ireland became the "Free State" when it proclaimed itself in 1921. GB considered it part of the Empire until 1949. In between those dates was the Irish Civil War, (1921-1923) and the proclamation of independence in 1937. The English were tenacious in holding on and it wasn't until 1949 that the country was recognized as such by England. The Irish Constitution came into being in 1937 I believe.
Love those Peterson pipes from any era.
Apologies for the history lesson, it's an area I feel strongly and prideful about. I return every couple of years to research and enjoy the countryside and its people.
Class Dismissed!
