What are your favorite tobacco's you tried from 2014. Here is a list of my Top 10 Tobaccos that I tried for the first time this year. This is not my "all-time" list but just the best I tried from 2014.

    1. GL Pease - Gas Light
    2. Mac Baren - HH Latakia Flake
    3. McClellands - Black Sea Sokhoum
    4. McClellands - Grey Havens
    5. Hearth & Home - Anniversary Kake
    6. GL Pease - Maltese Falcon
    7. Cornell & Diehl - Star of the East (Ready Rub version)
    8. Dunhill - Early Morning Pipe
    9. Russ Ouellette - Warm Up
    10. Dunhill - Night Cap
HM Cornell and Diehl - Pirate Kake
HM Esoterica - Margate (I've only smoked a couple bowls of this one otherwise it probably would have jumped up into the Top 10)

If you're knowledgeable about your tobacco blends and their contents you'll notice a theme with most of mine.

What are your favorites from this year?

Some really interesting stuff I had this year for the first time, with favorites starred:

    *Esoterica Stonehaven
    *Gawith Full Virginia Flake
    Gawith Best Brown Flake
*GLP Union Square (a tin from 2009 about blew my mind)
    GLP Laurel Heights (from 2007)
    GLP Samarra (2001)
*GLP Blackpoint (two tins, 2006 & 2007, which were amazing)
    GLP Robusto (2002)
    GLP Jackknife Plug
GLP Triple Play (the only new to me GLP blend this year that I didn't care for)
*PCCA original Boston 1776 (tinned in 1996)
    McClelland Dark Star
    McClelland Christmas Cheer (2002)
*Drucquer XX Press, which I think is McClelland 2015 (1990 or so)
    *H&H White Knight
    MacBaren Navy Flake
    Germain Balkan Sobranie

Full Virginia Flake and Stonehaven instantly became favorites going forward. The Drucquer XX Press is incredible but I'm going to stretch out my 4oz as long as I can. Blackpoint was an eye opener when I wasn't expecting it.

    1. Motzek Strang

    2. HU Director's Cut

    3. Maltese Falcoln

    4. GQ Askwith Kake

    5. Billy Budd

    6. HU Dockworker

To make a list of Ten I am going to have to mix it up with cigars as I didn't have 10 pipe tobaccos in 2014.

    #1 Punch- London Club (cigar)
    #2 St. George by sutliff
    #3 Margate
    #4 G. L. Pease Key Largo
    #5 Old Dark Fired RR
    #6 Honey & Chocolate
    #7 Irish Whiskey
    #8 Punch- Bare Knuckle (cigar)
    #9 Oliva O series (Cigar)
    #10 AKA Respect Hooah (Cigar)

Next year I plan to be able to mention only pipe tobacco in the list. LOL

It is like someone read my mind and added perique to Red Cake 5200 and aged them together for a while before sending it out, sweet like a fresh baked bread with a dash of spice. I fell in love with it.

Wow... lots of variety with everyone's lists. A few repeats here and there, but for the most part there is a large variety of different blends. Just goes to show how subjective taste is. Great lists guys... keep'em coming.

As a relatively new pipe smoker in a country without any B&Ms, I'm actually amazed I got to try 10 different pipe tobacco blends. I'll list them from best to worst, although none were really that bad.

    1. Peterson - Irish Flake
    2. Dunhill - Early Morning Pipe
    3. Mac Baren - Cube Silver
    4. Comoy's - Cask No. 7
    5. Mac Baren - Vanilla Cream Loose Cut
    6. Rona - Obester Vanilla
    7. McClellands - Frog Morton On The Bayou
    8. Alsbo - Black
    9. Peterson - Irish Oak
    10. Peterson - Sherlock Holmes

I'll definitely be repurchasing the top 6, as for the rest, I doubt it.

I'm new to the pipe this year, so all the ones I listed (in no specific order)) were new to me as I learned to enjoy tobacco rather than to need it.
One blend I have in my 'cellar' and HAVEN'T tried, is OGS. I'm sure I'll love them because I really do enjoy VA flakes, coins, and slices. I am just letting them mellow before I get after them.
I could have listed my three codger blends too. PA,CH,& SWR.

All the Dunhill tobaccos I rediscovered this year, and that I really love; I am a huge fan of this brand and think Orlik is doing an incredible good job with them:

Durbar (boy, this one is an OR lover's dream)
    The Apéritif
    Elizabethan Mixture

(I still have to try London Mixture, MM 965, Flake, Deluxe Navy Rolls and EMP)They will all be great with a few years of aging on them.

    Some GL Pease:

    Gaslight
    Sextant

    From C & D: Kajun Kake

    From MB:

    Symphony
    Modern Virginia Loose Cut

    And a few French tobaccos:

    Scaferlati Caporal Bandeau Rouge
    Scaferlati Caporal bandeau Bleu

A special mention to G & H Sweet Maple Twist ( a big thanks to Steve), of which I will do some serious stashing next year.

Now I am waiting for Jiminks to list his top 100 new blends of 2014. Perhaps we need a separate thread for that.

Yet another Strang recommendation. Jim and Peck already had me convinced, but now I'm getting antsy. Do any B&Ms carry Motzek Strang or does it have to be purchased online. I ask because there is no mail order shipping allowed where I live.

The truth is that I did try over 100 different bends this year! Hate being busted so early in the day, man!!!

I just tried Six Pence. Found it quite enjoyable, and since I just started smoking again, that is all I have to report. I have Gaslight and Frogmorton in the Basment to try next.

I've tried several different tobaccos, but as a latakia lover, here are my top 2.

    1. Lane Crown Achievement
    2. Hearth and Home's, "Black House."

Of all the others I've tried, they've not made that big of an impression. I've tried a lot of different aros, but evidently, they just aren't my thing. The only aro I've tried, that I've really liked, is 1888's "Midday," but lately, even that isn't doing much for me. I've enjoyed a couple of Mac Baren's offerings, but they definitely aren't my first choice. Lane's 1-Q is alright...

Trailboss: I'll say one thing for the Pipa pipe tobacco (if it was tobacco, lol). It was better than the Chinese cob that came with it.

I do not vary much in my tobacco, so a list of every tobacco I smoked this year is short
    1: aged McClelland 2015
    2: aged McClelland 2010
3: aged PS Luxury Navy Flake
    4: aged Escudo
5: and just for old time's sake I had one bowl of Dan's Blue Note.

Has anyone found any disk style tobacco they would recommend, or better yet an intact rope?

While interesting, the availability isn't too surprising since these were our favorites tried this year. Not a lot of guys out there scoring 1978 tins of Balkan Sobranie.
