The Canadian Edition Box Pass is underway with just over three pounds of tobacco to start! A big thanks to marmal4de for all his hard work putting this together, and to everyone else for giving me credit!

We've currently got eight on board for this round; I've posted a copy of the list on Google Docs. When you receive the box, please post some pics here for all to see. Hopefully we can generate some more interest, get this going around a few times with an ever growing group of recipients.

That's good to hear, keep the fingers crossed lads. We know what the mail service and customs can do.

If you can't pack it, light it, and smoke it then why do it. It's a dieing art that must be rekindled in all of us as fortold by our forefathers.

Avoid RJ Clarke like the plague, that is unless you're dropping an exorbitant amount on a Monte Blanc pen otherwise he won't pay you the time of day.

We didn't actually outline a maximum time - but of course, we're all excited to partake, so use common-sense and try and ship within a week of receiving the box.

That said, I've spoken with Ohin in PM's, he apologized profusely for and explained the delay and confirmed it was shipped Monday the 18th.

Just got the box and opened it up.

Looking forward to going through it all, trying some new stuff out, and sending it along to the next lucky recipient.

I was downright astounded by the size of the thing! Quite the variety as well and some blends that I've been curious about for a good while now.

I'm looking forward to sending it your way Barkar and to hear what you think of some of these.

Barkar - your recipient was one of the couple of folks who got involved from sources outside the forum (Todd Bannard is a pretty well known pipe-carver under the handle Briar, Sweat and Tears; makes some great traditional shapes and amazing blasts). See what we can do about getting a couple of pics.

Edit: Tracking number 0423 8070 0064 1257 does not exist? Wonder if it got nabbed...that would suck

    Okay okay I found ya.

Got the box today, probably it arrived last week - I am without technical support staff (aka wife) this week.

Anyway, it's huge, crazy huge, and just stuffed with all kinds of things, most of which I've never had.

    Will go snap a pic.

    Here's the guts:

Currently smoking Roma Vita - whoever put all these sutliffs in is a genius - it's fun to have a whole series.

Lots of GLP, the Balkan Sas smells really nice - reminds of of Presbyterian from 10 years ago, so that bodes well. Couple of well-travelled pipes in there, and a little packet of handmade tampers.

You guys want to know what I take/put or does it just go as a surprise for the next guy?

I have to admit I liked it too. I was like a kid in a candy store. I just smoked a couple bowls of everything and anything that caught my fancy. It was a great way to taste a huge variety of tobacco without having the expense of buying a lot of tins. Then I just tossed in some samples of my current blends I'm smoking now. FUN WOW!

Smoked a bowl of ... everything. All pipes dirty and tired, palate fatigued, house stinking. LOL.

Will put a couple interesting tins in, possibly a pipe or two.

I've been watching with interest. I took part in the U.S. box pass last year, and it was a blast to have such a variety of blends to sample. I credit it with really nailing down what tobacco I prefer. That box was a monster, too.

I'm going to be moving to Calgary in the next few months though, so I will hold off in joining in until my new address is settled. With my luck, the box would arrive at my old address the morning after I left.

Oh the anticipation! It's great to see that everyone is having a good time with this and finding some new blends! Hopefully we will have a few more for the next cycle.

That said, Simon, are you still residing in Victoria? I should have the box around the second or third week of August, and could use a trip to the island - if you want in this round, I can hand deliver. Heck, Marm is in Richmond; perhaps an afternoon of pipe-smoking in the provincial capital is in order.

I've just received it today, thanks!!! I'm going to do a rush through and get it to Steve (a 10 minute drive!) on Friday as I'm going away for a week after that and don't want to hold it up. The Tampers are lovely!!! Thanks, Sasquatch -- I picked the best one!

    Hi all,

I got the box from Adam this morning. I made a quick tally: 38 blends in varying amounts in the box. Lots of interesting ones. Smoked a few coins of Mac Baren Club Blend tonight to get started. Part of me wants to try all the GLP blends, while the other part of me says that's dumb, because I'll like 'em and I can't get 'em around here. I will find my "Penzance" in the bunch and then forever have to run the border guard gauntlet to supply my fix!

Couple of unsmoked pipes in there... I wonder if I could offer one to my neighbour to get him started? "Hey, want to try smoking a pipe? I'm sitting on a mountain of pipe tobacco here."

Will sample some more, add a bit, maybe take a bit and then off it will go.

The order is roughly the same as in the Google Docs link in Adam's first post, although there have been a couple of additions, including myself. The box will be on its way early next week, yada, yada.

The breakdown of blends in the box is probably English 50%, Va or Va/Per 40% and Aromatics 10%. Personally, I would welcome a few more (quality) aro's, but I have been enjoying trying the Virginias.

Hey all - sorry I missed these posts, my personal life has taken a turn for the ridiculously hectic.

I changed up the order a little bit, trying to stagger the shipping costs / not lay a bigger charge on the same person twice in a row. We've got a big country, and a large gap in the praries (no one in Saskachewan and Manitoba).

Don't forget to take stuff too guys! I noticed that by weight, the box has grown by two-thirds in tobacco alone - and many of the blends that went out the first time around were still in there (albeit in smaller quanitities).

Would it be asking too much to maybe ask if someone can put in some Sam Gawith FVF? Never tried, and i don't want to buy a whole tin to try it. Thanks eh!

I've got plenty of Boswells aros to add in!

Yeah, I tossed in a brick of carnuba wax for anyone who might be interested. I should be visiting my bee-keeper friend this weekend, I'll try and grab some pure beeswax for the next round. 38 blends at time of shipping.

Damn. Now I can't pass along the box with only a pouch of Borkum Riff and say that's what got sent to me.

It's great that everyone is contributing, but we all have to "withdraw" as well. The ziploc bags won't keep the 'baccy forever. Sometimes you gotta man up and take the last cupcake, as it were. That way there's new stuff each time the box comes around.
