Purchased my first estate pipe today, a Stanwell Vario 56 for what I think was a really good price. Can't wait till it arrives.

Nice-looking pipe. Is that a Canadian? I hope it smokes well for you.
Really hard to go wrong with an old Stanwell in good condition. Congratulations!
@flintlockjohn it is indeed!
@rothnh am really looking forward to giving it a clean and firing it up for a test drive
Stanwell's are good pipes and I like the ones I have. Nice looking pipe and hope it smokes well for you.
Congratulations! I'm also hoping to win a couple of pipes within the next few days.
I'm very jealous. I canadians are one of my favorite shapes, and I love the Stanwell that I have. Great purchase!
Congrats, looks like a great pipe.
I have yet to try a Stanwell but I love all my canadians. I hope it smokes great for ya.
Nice grab. Stanwells are a very good value. Good luck with it.
That's a swell looking burner, Chopsie. Good catch. (I'm partial to Canadians as well.)
Sweet Stanwell canadian!!! Good find!
Probably the best Danish estate pipe for the money you could buy. Congrats. As for a new Danish made pipe, the Neerup's are incredible. Very good smokes and little $$ for a Danish pipe with some flair and different shapes.
It arrived today, apart from some light scorching around the rim of the bowl its in perfect condition. I didn't think that it was restored (as seller didn't mention it in the listing) but the cake had been reamed and a pipe cleaner soaked in alcohol came out clean as well. Just cleaned the stem with alcohol (to disinfect) and rubbed the bowl with an alcohol soaked cleaner. Cant wait to fire it up tomorrow.
Nice Stanwell, I have a Vario in a different shape. Its one of my favorites
very nice pipe I have a Stanwell freehand and a seconds royal danish. both smoke well.
It's proving to be a great smoker, had a heavy ghost from some acrid aromatic (and I'm not opposed to aromatics). But after using Lawrence's paper towel and alcohol method and smoking about 8 or so bowls it seems to be gone.
That's a great looking pipe! Love the shape and design! Congrats!!
Barring any unseen issues, I was fairly sure you'd be quite happy with that Stanwell. I'm betting you'll be reaching for it often and for many years.
Great looking pipe and better yet it is smoking well for you. Congrats on your first estate purchase.
