Finally found a Stanwell 37. Designed by Sixten Ivarsson, it's a volcano sitter that looks like the famous Stanwell 70 with an upturned shank and stem. It's not my white whale, but I've been wanting one of these as a desk pipe for a long time.

Thanks, guys. I know these pipes aren't showstoppers, but something about modern Danish design (60s or 70s in this case) just makes me happy. I love a good artisan pipe and a hand cut stem as much as anyone, but there's something to be said for a factory that puts out quality products at good prices, as Stanwell has done. And this pipe is just so damn practical -- smokes and handles like a bent, but sits like a poker. Genius.

Wow, not much for sitters or volcanos, but I'd be happy to be holding that thing in my hands with a bowl full of some great tobacco. Very nice pipe!
