I recently took some leather shoe dye and took it to the cob with a nice glaze to finish it off. Tell me what you think['img]['/img]

Won't that send off fumes when it heats up?

Nope. It's the same stuff most carvers use to stain briar.

If at first you don't succeed you are running about average.

Wow! That looks great! I like stained cobs and never thought of a DIY staining project. I also like the stem, too. Great job!

Looks great! All you need now is a classy "Forever Stem" to finish the look. Really nice HavanaRick!

No, smoking from that won't release any fumes. Even if he had used conventional stain so long as he A:let it sit for a couple days before smoking and B: pre-heated it in an oven to wear off any excess, he should be fine.
