I’m not big on remakes, but this one looks good.

Death Wish remake with Bruce Willis...time to take out the trash.

American Made

True story of Barry Seal with Tom Cruise. Glad this story’s getting told...hope it’s well done.

Scorsese, Pacino, De Niro, Pesci, Keitel

The Irishman

Allegedly the true account of what really happened to Jimmy Hoffa.

I've always been a fan of Bruce Willis, and sometimes remakes are awesome if done right. But I can't see anyone other than Charles Bronson playing Paul Kersey. I'll likely see the movie though, and I hope it turns out to be a good one.
American Made looks like it's going to be a good movie. Personally I think Tom Cruise is a nutjob, but I love his acting and his movies. So that's going on my list of must see movies.
I'll be looking forward to The Irishman, as well.

The cast in The Irishman is pretty classic if not classy. And the Hoffa story is compelling. On my list to check out.
FWIW- nothing I am sure- some actors are such douches that I don't care how well they act, their films have to be rated very high before I'll go see. I won't mention names but two such have been identified above. Hmm, who else? Lauren Bacall, but she's not making many new films now....
Anyone else wanna kvetch about actors they don't like?

Agreed. But TC certainly has been in quite a few really good movies. And I do think he's a pretty decent actor. I tend to ignore their personal lives.

It’s based on this book:

I'm not a fan nor a detractor, but watching Tom Cruise act, I always feel like he's trying to figure out who he is through the character he plays, and never entirely deciding. Maybe that's just acting.

Now that caught my attention!
I want to love this one, but I have a feeling it's going to be a let-down. I think to this point, the only remake that I've felt was good quality was True Grit.

Funny you should say that...because I almost included that one in the OP, but I have the same feeling as you about it. Not entirely sure why though.

I'm not a huge fan of classic movie remakes, but True Grit and 3:10 to Yuma were both very well done and very enjoyable. The remake of Flight of the Phoenix also bordered on being a darned good movie.
As for the actors, some go so far over the top in being an outsized annoyance offscreen that I can no longer enjoy them onscreen. They've done it to themselves; it doesn't seem to affect their box office revenues, though.
Tom Cruise is one whose personality is so repugnant that I can no longer separate that little ass weasel from his characters; it ruined Valkyrie for me, and that's a movie that should have been right up my street. Russell Crowe is another one. I can't get past his real life douchiness enough to enjoy his make-believe personas.

I love Movies, but don't support the Box Offices as I am one they called names, also some actors are Taboo to me, it's a Sad,Sad, thing, nevertheless it's showing up at the Box Offices as their stock is tanking and they are looking at China to bail their asses out. I love Movies.

Several of the biggest nut jobs in the film industry are guys who never fail to entertain me. Tom Cruise vehicles are always good: some are better than others yet he still pushes and pushes. The first time I saw him onscreen was in "Taps" and he stole the entire movie from George C. Scott, Timothy Hutton and Sean Penn. Honestly, I've liked him ever since. Yet he's nuttier than a peach orchard boar.
And then you've got Mel Gibson: vile, vulgar, misogynistic and racist. But the guy's a talented actor and maybe - just maybe - has hit his full stride as a director. "Apocalypto" was the best film totally ignored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2006. (Rightfully so. He single-handedly destroyed that film with his actions and behavior. I feel badly for his co-workers in that film because they deserved better.) But, here's a guy who also gave us "Braveheart," "The Passion of the Christ" and "Hacksaw Ridge." (Please PM me for Gibson's upbringing. It is wildly religious but might help you understand where he comes from. No excuses are offered but, hopefully, you'll get a better understanding of the contrarian religious group to which he belongs.)
It's odd. I can forgive and move with forward with these two mutts, yet Jane Fonda, easily Meryl Streep's better, and Lou Asner - as talented as they get - will forever be on my all time "I support the Commies" shit list. I haven't seen anything either of them were in since the early 80's. It's my loss but I have to vote with my feet.

I very rarely go to a theater any more. Ticket and concession prices are a giant rip-off imo...plus you have to suffer through endless previews and adds before the movie starts. And then you can't stop the movie to use the bathroom.

That’s for sure. A great movie, of the type that seldom gets made anymore.

Have to add this one to the list. Looks original, weird and creepy enough to be worth a shot.

On the subject of pricing, my local theater has $6 Tusdays, that's actually about $4 in American money. Sometimes I feel a little spoiled watching new release movies for what is now pocket change.

Still, I only watch about one movie per month.
