I had heard about SmokinHolsters.com and was interested in getting a bag for travelling. Smoking pipes had a very nice bag that Peck had purchased, but my feeling was that it had too many straps for me to deal with.
Neil Flancbaum and I talked on the phone for a while and I chose his ultimate bag made out of Bridal Leather which is a stiff tan colored bag that can old up to 16 pipes without pouches, or 8 pipes if you use them. It also has room and pockets for many accessories. The inside is made out of deerskin, (if I'm not mistaken)
My wife gave that to me for the holidays and I opened it up this morning.
The hardware on the bag is top notch and all the major stitching is done by hand. It comes with a shoulder strap and he included a pipe cleaner holder and a pipe holder made out of the same material.
It is simply gorgeous.
Funny thing-----I never thought I would be the kind of person with a 'man-bag'.
Even though she is not happy with me smoking as much as I do, she got it for me anyway.
I do have a good woman.

This is a photo by Neil of an earlier bag. Mine has a single row of holders on each side of the bag with large zippered pockets in the center instead of the double row.
I imagine that he can adapt it to any way you desire.
It is a beautifully made bag.

Congrats Allan. You told me about this bag when we met up in New York, and I have to say, it was worth the wait. Beautiful bag and I am sure it will last for 100 years. Truly an heirloom piece.

Steve is absolutely correct. Neill is very accommodating and will really make whatever you want.
Sorry for the large image-I'm still struggling to get photos even with photobucket.!

I have two bags (6 pipe & 2 pipe). The workmanship really is first rate. Mine were found in pipe classifieds, so I got lucky. That one looks perfect! Both of mine look a little "man-bag" like, but I'm comfortable enough in my sexuality that I just ingore the remarks from family members....

LOL!Me neither! I correct anyone (my wife) with it's an "Action Pack!". Whatever you call it, it's Very Nice! I wish mine (#184) had the pouch. That would be so handy for stashing brochures, card and flyers that you pick up at shows. At the time I had him make me eight sleeves that matched the interior hide so that doubled up pipes don't touch. It get's heavy and I've seen some guys with a almost matching aftermarket shoulder pad that looks like it came with it. I jotted down the name in my Vegas show notes but I can't find them right now. 8O

Pulling a .45 auto out from the bag has a way of neutralizing snarky comments... []
All joking aside, pulling a .45 out is a great way to get arrested for brandishing by any onlooker who makes a quick phone call.
