My sister brought me a Gouda 14" clay pipe from Holland, in the town of Gouda, where they are made,

and miraculously got it home on the plane without it breaking. Hurrah! Nice smoking pipe. With the

long ones, you just have to collect yourself and pay attention to what you're doing, so as not to catch

it on the furniture and somehow dump the bowl, and don't grab the bowl, which is hot, but hold the pipe

by its stem. Sitting down, with an available place to set the pipe down if necessary, it's a fine smoke.

Slightly canted bowl, gently arching shank and stem. It's not quite unusual enough for a photo.

Gouda also makes those chocolate swirl clay pipes if i recall correctly, always wanted on until i learned how delicate you need to be while smoking or handling them. Being i have broken many Briar stems in the past i fear that my beastly hands are not quite suitable for these delicate treasures. Doesn't mean i wouldn't like to see them.

It's the same pipe just two different pictures. I used to smoke this pipe more as a break from the briars but once I found meerschaum I don't think I've smoked the clay in over a year. Still clays are interesting and a big part of pipe history.

Those are great clays! Here is one clay I just dug out from a box in my closet. I believe it's clay. Dusted off and ready to show...

This hasn't been smoked out of for 15yrs and it wasn't tobacco either. It was given to me by my parents when they returned from Mexico vacay.

^ That thing makes me dizzy. And I wouldn't want it facing me while I'm trying to sleep ;)
