Sorry no pic, but my first pipe, which I still have and smoke, was a Tinder Box St. Ives,

bent pot sitter, smooth, with a saddle stem. I think it was made by Chapuis-Comoy, or

one of the French makers. It has worn like iron and must be 40 plus years old. It is still

one of the most unique pipes I have. A little charring on the brim, a little oxidation on

the stem (but surprisingly little). France can make a pipe.
