Great review. Particularly for me, as I just received my first bulk order of this tobacco, which I haven't tried yet. One question: my tobacco came in a bag, not a tin. How long do you recommend drying bulk FVF, if at all? Those tin blends that I don't need to dry out, I will leave with just the tin lid off for an hour or so before I try them for the first time. Is more "conditioning" than this recommendable for bulk FVF? BTW, I've already transferred the bag contents to a jar.

In my experience, I have found that the bulk version is already at a smokable moisture level. Sometimes when I have received the tobacco, it is even a little on the dry side in the bulk.

That was a good review Python. I never thought about the possible differences between tinned and bulk tobacco until I read your reviews. That's a very astute observation.
So you like VAs. What are some of your other favorite Virginia blends?

I will smoke almost any type of Virginia and VA/Per blends. I love them.

Some of my favorite VA's are, just to name a few:

SG - FVF

H&H - Anniversary Kake

SG - Best Brown Flake (BBF)

Old Virginia Tobacco Company - Old Virginia Flake

SG - Bracken Flake
I also enjoy quite a few Aro's that are on a VA base.

It seems that SG- FVF is out of stock everywhere in the US. Any clue on where I could purchase it elsewhere (overseas or still in America)?

I popped a tin of this some time ago and was not impressed . Sealed it back up and threw it to the back of the closet . I think mine needed more time alone to mature . Sometimes a Virgina will do that ,the good thing is they improve with time .

Another tobacco that I do so miss. Was always my go to VA flake. Smokes good whole, rubbed, cubed, powdered, sauteed etc. Any which way you smoke it, it alway delivers. Makes for great DGT too. Some of my other favourite virginias include:

SG 1792

Rattray's Marlin Flake

Rattray's Old Gowrie

Hamborger Veermaster

Dunhill Light Flake

Dunhill 3 Year Matured

Dunhill Elizabethan mixture

Dunhill De Luxe Navy Rolls

Solani 633

Escudo

Caledonian Original Navy Cut No.499

McClelland's Dark Star

Several McClellend's Christmas Cheer

McClellands 5100

Esoterica's Dorchester

Esoterica's Dunbar

Esoterica's Stonehaven

G&H Dark Birdseye

Im such a sucker for everything the Virginia spectrum has to offer.

parodsson - you just have to catch it when it comes in. They cannot keep up with demand, which leads to hording, which leads to even less supply.
However, try The Pipe & Pint, Greensboro, NC (336) 218-8610.
