Have just purchased a couple of standard Savinelli’s. One is a 310 and the other a 127. Both have similar looking stems. I was just wondering if anyone knows how they are made. I guess these are mass produced pipes, so are the stems injection moulded?

All of my regular rotation pipes are Savinelli, and frankly, I never thought about it before--the stems always fit perfectly and stay that way, so it never entered my mind. That said, there are no obvious seams, although the tenon looks like it's touched up so to speak with some sort of tool. That said, this would be a great question for the guys at smokingpipes.com...I'm sure they will be more than happy to help as one of their main lines they sell is Savinelli.
