Trevor Baylis was one of the great modern inventors, devising innumerable products mostly to help the disabled. He is best known for inventing a special radio, which he created after hearing that education programs on the radio could help to reduce the AIDS epidemic in Africa. As many people in Africa did not have easy access to electicity, he invented the wind up radio.
He was also an ardent pipe man, and was rarely photographed without a pipe in his mouth.
