Chuck Berry. Dead at the age of 90.

To Master Po: Is it not being able to see that makes you tire of life?
Master Po: No! It is being able to hear!

I just heard it, and was on my way here to post it. You beat me to it. In my opinion there was nobody more influential to rock and roll guitar than Chuck Berry. I've always said he was the true king of rock and roll. His style influenced everyone from the Beach Boys to Elvis Presley, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and many others. Including many current rock, blues, and country artists. I'm not often saddened by a celebrity death, but I am with Chuck Berry. Going to play a little guitar in his honor tonight.

I drag raced to his music in the Back country roads, got drunk to his music, even had a few fights to em. He was Rock& Roll. Gonna miss him.

Anthony, I could not agree more. There would be no rock'n'roll as we know it if not for Chuck Berry. Take away just about any Rock'n'Roll guitar hero and you would still have Chuck Berry; take away Chuck Berry and the rest disappear.

I would never have assumed he was still alive, 90 is a ripe old age. Thanks Chuck for playing such a major 'roll' in rock!

I don't really care if the cup is half full or half empty, I just want something to sip on.

He was very much alive and kicking. He was still playing live as lately as 2014. He has a new album coming out this year.

Saw this in Digital New York Times, was wondering if this was a real headline or Fake News from the King of Fake News and Headline Rearramgement Syndrome. God I was hoping this was the case, Rock N Roll suffered a huge loss. Berry, can't wait to jam in Heaven.

RIP. There's a video I've seen of him and John Lennon playing and just jamming. Then Yoko Ono starts in with some crazy bs vocals and the look Chuck Berry gives her is priceless.

Hey Tim, you hear about Yoko Ono's survivalist handbook? It's all about how she lived off of nothing but a dead Beatle for 30 years.

A man who serves his country is a patriot. A man who serves his government is an employee. The two are not always the same thing.

Can't win 'em all. I trot it out whenever I can; it's the only thing I know of that's even mildly humorous about ol' Yoko.

As others have said, the true King of Rock-n-Roll. RIP Chuck. The end of an era.

As Bob Seger said, "all of Chuck's children are out there playin' his licks...rock-n-roll never forgets."

I got to see him in 1969. He enjoyed entertaining the audience and probably didn't get enough credit for his creativity.
Likely a role model for countless guitar players and song writers.
Here's a piece I found about the early days and background on the song Maybellene.

Indeed. I was thinking about what an amazing body of song this man produced, every song so great.........except for that one! It got a lot of airplay, though.
One of the great songwriters for sure.

    Well, that tears it.

Next time you go out on a clear night, look to the southwest and find Orion. To the right you will see the V-shaped head of Taurus. Just off to the right and above about where the red X is, is Voyager 1 heading out of the solar system into interstellar space with Chuck Berry's music riding on it.

A true legend and a sad loss

Nowhere in the world will such a brotherly feeling of confidence be experienced as amongst those who sit together smoking their pipes
