Hey y'all I just got in a prototype cob from my man Riccardo Santia and wanted to get y'alls opinion. I have done a video review of it that fully describes it. Here's the link:

Pretty cool! If only it came with this kind of bamboo stem I'd be SO all over it!!

You asked for opinions, so here's mine.
Airways flatten out at the bit in order to spread out smoke across the palate. This seems like it would concentrate the smoke, which was the problem that the flat mouthpiece solved. Brian mentioned this in his last "radio show". Flat bits are flat and flared for a reason.
The same with the shape. You CAN hold a round mouthpiece between your teeth, but mouthpieces became flat because they’re more comfortable. And it seems like vulcanite and plastic/lucite bits would be FAR more hygienic than a bamboo mouthpice.
Frankly, this seem like a huge step backwards in the evolution of the pipe.
“Extra long pipe so it smokes cool”. I've never believed that smoke actually "cools" in a longer stem. By that logic, smoke should still be "warmer" when smoked from a nose-warmer but it isn't.
It looks neat as a prop for a costume, but as a serious smoking instrument this isn't for me.

@hfearly,

He make most with the regular style bamboo like that pipe you showed but just not in the black. He has been experimenting with staining the bamboo though. Check out his site: RSantiapipe.com

:rofl:

To me, using any corn cob pipe, if not out of sheer necessity, is a huge step backwards in the development of pipe smoking.
