I really like the looks and the feel of the wooden stems on the MacQueen pipes. I got one for Christmas and it smokes pretty good. This made me wonder how they would actually make the stems especially on the longer bent Wizard pipe. Have any of you made a wooden stem pipe before?

I personally have never made a wooden stemmed pipe. I do love the look of those MacQueen pipes!

I own one and the stems look like one piece of wood. They have an aluminum tube inside to create the tenon, it goes the full length of the stem. I am taking a stab but since the stem is not a hard wood they probaby drill the stem and steam the wood when putting the aluminum in the stem and then bend the two combined and let the wood dry. Old world craftmen would bend wood by steam, again just a guess.

Toker, I never even thought of them bending the stems after they drill them lol. Now it is starting to make a little more sense!
